[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] It has been revealed that senior police officials at the rank of Inspector General or higher hold an average of approximately 1.5 billion KRW in assets.
According to the "2022 Regular Asset Changes of Public Officials" announced by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 30th, the average assets of 37 senior police officials at the rank of Inspector General or higher amounted to 1,570,630,000 KRW. This is an increase of 280,630,000 KRW compared to last year's average assets of 1,290,000,000 KRW among 31 officials.
Police Commissioner General Kim Chang-ryong reported assets totaling 1,151,860,000 KRW, including an apartment in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, held under his and his spouse's names, deposits, and securities. This is about double the 574,010,000 KRW reported last year, influenced by increased deposits held by his spouse and children.
Deputy Commissioner General Jin Gyo-hoon declared 1,093,590,000 KRW in assets, including real estate in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, under his name and deposits. This is an increase of 135,780,000 KRW from last year's 957,800,000 KRW, due to rising real estate prices. Nam Gu-jun, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the Police Agency, reported 133,510,000 KRW, including a multi-family house in Nusaeng-dong, Jongno-gu, under his name.
Chief Choi Kwan-ho of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency holds assets totaling 1,111,970,000 KRW, combining two leased apartments in Gangnam under his and his spouse's names, deposits, and land owned by his mother. Lee Kyu-moon of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency reported 390,160,000 KRW, and Choi Seung-yeol of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency declared 1,687,110,000 KRW.

The wealthiest among senior police officials is No Seung-il, Chief of the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency. He reported 3,325,050,000 KRW in assets, including an apartment in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, under his and his spouse's names, commercial property in Seongnam-si under his spouse's name, deposits, securities, and bonds. Last year, he also reported the highest amount among senior police officials at 2,921,230,000 KRW.
