Pulmuone CEO Lee Hyoyul: "Strengthening ESG Management and Digital Transformation"

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Pulmuone has announced its intention to transform into a future-oriented comprehensive food company by making Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and Digital Transformation (DX) the core pillars of its business.
On the 30th, at the 2022 shareholders' meeting held at Pulmuone headquarters in Suseo-dong, Gangnam, CEO Hyoyul Lee stated, “In the midst of rapid changes in the era, Pulmuone will actively pursue transformation and innovation to evolve from a traditional food company into a future-oriented comprehensive food company that seeks sustainable growth.”
He added, “To this end, the strategic direction this year will focus on strengthening ESG management based on a plant-based sustainable food business in products and services, and in corporate operations, we will center on Digital Transformation (DX) to grow into a dynamic, future-oriented company that gives dreams and hope to the younger generation.”
This year, Pulmuone plans to expand its product lineup centered on plant-based foods such as tofu noodles, tofu bars, cube tofu, plant-based meat alternatives like bulgogi and boneless chicken, katsu balls, and plant-based home meal replacement (HMR) products including dumplings, fried rice, and tteokbokki. To this end, Pulmuone will launch a plant-based food specialty brand in the domestic market this year.
In addition, regarding animal welfare foods, Pulmuone is focusing on securing supply sources to expand animal welfare eggs and animal welfare meat. The application of animal welfare meat will also be continuously expanded in existing products such as animal welfare eggs, frozen rice, dumplings, and sausages. From a research and development (R&D) perspective, the company plans to secure technologies across various categories including cell-cultured seafood, land-based seaweed farming, and plant-based meat made from plant tissue protein.

Meanwhile, on the same day, CEO Lee was reappointed as an inside director, and Professor Kyungmi Lee of Seoul National University’s Business Administration Department was reappointed as an outside director. Additionally, Jiyoon Lee from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and Chansik Han, representative lawyer of the law firm Amicus, were appointed as outside directors. Woojin Kim, professor of finance at Seoul National University Graduate School of Business, was newly appointed as an outside director and audit committee member.
