View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] In March last year, telecommunications equipment company A signed a project contract worth $4 million in the Japanese smart distribution market, known for its high entry barriers, together with an artificial intelligence (AI) specialist company and a distribution logistics software (SW) company. This was made possible by KOTRA's 'Overseas IT Project Consortium Entry Support Program,' which enables targeting difficult markets through inter-company cooperation.
On the 30th, KOTRA announced that it would officially launch the support program by holding the '2022 ICT Consortium Export Support Meeting' together with the Ministry of Science and ICT. Forty companies selected this year participated in the meeting to discuss project order strategies and entry plans for each overseas market.
The 'ICT Consortium Export Support Program,' conducted in collaboration with large and small-medium enterprises and related organizations, supports domestic IT companies' order activities year-round by utilizing KOTRA's overseas trade centers for market research, local marketing, and building networks with ordering clients. Last year, it achieved results by signing four IT projects (worth $6 million) in eight countries and concluding ten memorandums of understanding (MOUs).
This year, out of 19 project applications, a total of 14 consortia were selected in fields such as smart city, smart farm, digital government, smart learning, and 5G.
KOTRA plans to strengthen support for overseas project orders in the digital infrastructure industry and the Fourth Industrial Revolution sectors due to the industrial restructuring accelerated by digital transformation (DX) following the COVID-19 pandemic.
