Paid 60,000 Won and Got 60,000 Won More... Gyeongnam Office of Education Pays 600 Million Won to 141 'Aijo Bankbook' Recipients
Accumulated Monthly Contributions from Mirae Education Foundation for 35 Months, 4.2 Million KRW Received Per Person
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education has provided 592.2 million KRW as university living expenses to students enrolled in the Aijoa Savings Account Program.
The Aijoa Savings Account Program is an educational asset formation support program run by the Gyeongnam Future Education Foundation under the provincial Office of Education since 2016, offering higher education opportunities to children from low-income families.
Selected students during high school pay 60,000 KRW monthly for 35 months, and the foundation matches the same amount each month.
If the student does not enter university in the designated year, the payment period is extended for three years to maximize the opportunity for low-income students to attend university.
The foundation paid 4.2 million KRW per person to 141 students who entered university this year among those selected for the program.
Since the first disbursement of savings in 2019, a total of 1.9656 billion KRW has been provided to 468 students up to this year.
