Sinan-gun 'Island Narcissus Festival' Canceled
Prioritizing COVID-19 Spread Prevention and Resident Safety
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, has canceled the Island Narcissus Festival scheduled to be held on the 1st of next month.
The Island Narcissus Festival, a representative island festival of Korea, was scheduled to be held for ten days from the 1st to the 10th of next month in Seondo-ri, Jido-eup. However, the county decided to cancel it considering the prevention of COVID-19 spread and the safety of residents.
The Sinan 1004 Island Narcissus Festival Committee expressed regret, saying, "Next year, we hope that all citizens will be healed in body and mind on Seondo, the Narcissus Island, along with the end of COVID-19."

Meanwhile, since 2019, residents of the small island village Seondo in Jido-eup, Sinan, have started the festival by cultivating narcissus as an alternative crop to garlic and onions. Also, in September, by selling bulbs, they have achieved both increased farm income and tourism activation, catching two rabbits with one stone.
