Gwangsan Pneumoconiosis Rights Solidarity Declares Support for Yoon Young-min, Hwasun County Governor Preliminary Candidate
"High Understanding of Pneumoconiosis Victims and Presentation of a New Hwasun Vision"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Members of the Gwangsan Pneumoconiosis Rights Solidarity Gwangju Jeonnam Branch have declared their support for Yoon Youngmin, the preliminary candidate for Hwasun County Governor.
On the 23rd, the Gwangsan Rights Solidarity held a support declaration ceremony at the Gwangsan Rights Solidarity office in Hwasun-eup, stating, “Preliminary candidate Yoon Youngmin has shown deeper interest and responsibility than anyone else regarding the Hwasun coal mine and pneumoconiosis patients, and has stood together with them until now.” They added, “Yoon, who has a high understanding of pneumoconiosis victims and a concrete blueprint for the future of the Hwasun mines, is the right person to lead Hwasun.”
They continued, “Preliminary candidate Yoon, as the son of a miner, has spent his life with the mines, and his father also suffered from pneumoconiosis, so he understands the hardships of mine workers better than anyone else.”
Furthermore, they said, “The candidate who clearly raised his voice that ‘improving the treatment of miners and pneumoconiosis victims comes first,’ Yoon is the only one who spoke from the heart, not just for votes,” and appealed, “Let us create a new Hwasun together with preliminary candidate Yoon Youngmin, who has long prepared through his passion for Hwasun and outstanding legislative activities.”
Preliminary candidate Yoon stated, “It is the beginning of democracy to not forget and to honor the industrial warriors who laid the foundation of Korea’s industry in harsh mines,” adding, “It is inappropriate to prioritize development first when miners who risked their lives to increase coal production cannot even breathe properly due to coal dust accumulated in their lungs.”
He also promised, “I will definitely fulfill the nation’s promise to protect you through thorough medical support for pneumoconiosis victims,” and pledged, “If there is any way to repay even a little for the sacrifices of mine workers who devoted their youth to the industrialization of our country, I will actively step forward.”
He added, “You are the true patriots that Hwasun must remember,” and “I will create a new Hwasun to show that your dedication has not been in vain.”
