Gokseong-gun Appoints 6 Local Writers for Returning Farmers and Migrants

Plans to Share New Life Moments Discovered After Leaving the City for the Countryside

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jongseon] Jeonnam Gokseong-gun announced on the 23rd that it has appointed six 귀농귀촌 동네작가 (hereinafter referred to as ‘Dongnae Writers’).

Dongnae Writers will be responsible for promotional activities to attract urban residents using SNS.

They live in the area and share familiar life stories about rural daily life, farming scenes, and other rural living tips.

The six selected as the first generation Dongnae Writers are 귀농귀촌 individuals residing in the region who actively operate personal SNS accounts.

Having personally experienced the 귀농귀촌 process, they are expected to vividly convey honest stories and necessary information encountered and felt during the regional settlement process better than anyone else.

The backgrounds of the Dongnae Writers are also interesting.

Mr./Ms. A, selected as the Dongnae Writer for Osan-myeon, is a 100% pure urban mother who recently moved from Seoul to Gokseong.

She formed a connection with Gokseong-gun by participating in the rural study program conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education.

She already posts daily life in Gokseong and her child attending Osan Elementary School on YouTube and Naver Blog, attracting many visitors.

A said, “Since coming to Gokseong, I have felt many new things about myself and my child.

I want to share the new life our family has discovered with many people.”

Mr./Ms. B, the Dongnae Writer for Jukgok-myeon, is the youngest participant among the Dongnae Writers.

B settled in Gokseong-gun by participating in the third session of ‘Cheongchun Jakdang,’ a rural living program for urban youth jointly operated by Gokseong-gun and the Farm & D Cooperative.

B said they fell in love with Gokseong’s nature, where opening the door reveals a real forest instead of a forest of buildings.

B plans to fully capture how the MZ generation, who lived in the city, adapts to rural life, portraying their life like a walk that feels both like travel and daily routine.

The stories of the Dongnae Writers can be found on the 귀농귀촌 Comprehensive Center website from April to December.

They will also be simultaneously posted on the Dongnae Writers’ personal SNS accounts.

A Gokseong-gun official said, “We hope that through the stories of the Dongnae Writers, many people will take an interest in the unadorned appearance of our county. Settling permanently by 귀농귀촌 in our county is a good choice. But even if not, we hope that everyone will spend at least some time in Gokseong at least once in their life, writing shining moments of life like the waves of the Seomjin River.”
