US Embassy: "Russia abducted 2,389 Ukrainian children"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The U.S. Embassy announced on the 22nd (local time) that Russian forces have abducted 2,389 children from eastern Ukraine.
According to major foreign media including the British Guardian on the same day, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv stated that 2,389 Ukrainian children were abducted in the Russian-controlled Donbas region and illegally transferred to Russia. The embassy said, "The Ukrainian government is aware of this fact," and added, "Russia is also illegally transferring children from Mariupol." It emphasized, "This is abduction, not humanitarian aid."
Irina Venediktova, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, also said on social media that this is a "Russian war crime" and that "an investigation into the forcibly transferred children is underway."
