Hanwha Life Holds '2022 Ideathon' with US Silicon Valley Startup
Total Prize Money of 200 Million KRW and Opportunity to Participate in US Projects
Discovering and Nurturing Promising Talent on the Theme of Web 3.0
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] ‘Hanwha Life Dreamplus,’ the first startup incubation center managed by a domestic insurance company, announced on the 20th that it is recruiting participants for the ‘2022 Ideathon (IDEATHON)’ themed ‘Web 3.0’ in collaboration with 82 startups from the Korean-American startup community in Silicon Valley, USA. The event will be held from the 21st of this month until the 8th of next month.
Hanwha Life stated, “Since 2016, we have introduced various programs to nurture talent and support startups and employment in IT fields such as blockchain and cybersecurity,” adding, “Through this event, we especially aim to nurture and support young talents active in the Americas region.”
The application categories are divided into two: team and individual. Team applicants are targeted at preliminary or early-stage startups in the Web 3.0 field, while individuals should possess development capabilities and wish to participate as early members in prominent projects within the United States. Selected teams (or individuals) through document screening and final interviews will receive about three weeks of online mentoring and individual interviews.
The mentoring will involve many renowned industry leaders, including Kim Seo-jun, CEO of Hashed; Lee Kang-jun, CEO of Dunamu & Partners; and Han Jae-sun, former CEO of Klaytn. Through well-structured mentoring from idea development to entry into the U.S. market, the plan is to provide promising talents with a stepping stone for early entry into the large U.S. market.
After the mentoring concludes, up to five outstanding teams and six individual participants will be selected respectively. The final selected teams will receive a total prize of 200 million KRW (40 million KRW per team) to support their business. Individual participants will be offered the opportunity to join U.S.-based Web 3.0 projects as founding members. Additionally, confirmed project members will be able to work in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States.
