Jangseong-gun Holds 'Lifelong Education Council' Meeting... Discussing Development Directions

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] On the 16th, Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do held the ‘Jangseong-gun Lifelong Education Council’ at the county office situation room to discuss the development direction of lifelong education this year.

According to the county on the 17th, the Lifelong Education Council is an advisory body that deliberates and coordinates all matters related to the establishment and operation of the county’s basic lifelong education plan.

It was formed with 12 members including the chairman, the Jangseong-gun governor, county council members, officials from the Jangseong Office of Education, and operators of lifelong education institutions, based on the ‘Jangseong-gun Lifelong Education Promotion Ordinance’ enacted in February last year.

At the meeting, after reporting on last year’s lifelong education project achievements, broad opinions on major issues for this year were expressed.

This year, the county plans to actively promote six key projects: ▲activation of the Lifelong Education Council operation ▲establishment of a lifelong learning network ▲expansion of adult literacy education ▲support for lifelong learning programs ▲support for lifelong learning clubs ▲and the foundation of a lifelong learning city.

The ultimate goal is to help the simultaneous growth of individuals and the community to build a lifelong learning community.

The county plans to actively support lifelong learning programs of institutions and organizations and the activities of lifelong learning clubs so that any local resident can participate in the learning they desire.

The adult literacy education program ‘Village Visiting Hangul Class,’ which has received high acclaim, will also be expanded.

In addition, the county will dispatch level 3 literacy educators, who are trained internally, to villages to provide customized education.

Ongoing programs such as the 21st Century Jangseong Academy, Seonbi School, and library lifelong education programs will also be solidly organized to increase satisfaction.

A county official said, “We will strengthen residents’ capabilities by providing various lifelong learning programs in step with the changing times and lay the foundation for community development.”
