Digital Twin Platform Company Aegis Partners with Maxst for Metaverse Business Collaboration
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Digital twin platform company Aegis announced on the 17th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a metaverse joint business partnership with Maxst Co., Ltd.
Through this agreement, Aegis plans to combine its recently launched Korea's first digital twin platform-based spatial information service 'Marketplace' with Maxst's virtual space trading service 'Tleon.'
Both companies will complement their core strategic products for the easy and fast construction of metaverse spaces, a key element of the metaverse business, and mutually cooperate in technology development. Through this, they aim to secure the technological capabilities to jointly carry out national research projects related to the metaverse.
Since its establishment in 2001, Aegis has attracted industry attention by developing a system that automatically constructs and analyzes globe-based three-dimensional spatial information, a technology possessed by only four countries worldwide.
Over more than 20 years, it has developed a 3D GIS (Geographic Information System) engine and gained external recognition for its technological capabilities. It also developed the initial model of 'V-World,' a government strategic investment platform.
Based on this know-how, since 2018, Aegis has conceptualized a digital twin platform and launched last year 'XDWORLD 1.0,' a platform providing a spatial information data distribution market, spatial information service marketplace, and a developer sandbox where anyone can easily develop new functions.
Kim Seong-ho, CEO of Aegis, said, "The digital twin platform XDWORLD 1.0, a mirror world of the metaverse, is an open platform where anyone can easily participate, and many companies are offering related services based on location-based spatial information, real estate, marine, forestry, drones, and more." He added, "As various data and content accumulate in the future, it will develop into a globally competitive platform."
Maxst, established in 2010, is regarded as Korea's top AR (Augmented Reality) specialized technology company, focusing on securing and domesticating AR technology. In the second half of this year, it plans to launch an open XR metaverse platform and virtual space trading service to the market. Notably, at MWC 2022, it unveiled the new metaverse space 'Tleon,' a reality-based virtual space, along with its business roadmap.
