VT Bio Proposes New Therapeutic Mechanism for Alzheimer's Disease
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] VT GMP announced on the 15th that its affiliate VT Bio will present research results at the ‘AD/PD™ (Alzheimer's/Parkinson's Disease) 2022’ conference held in Barcelona, Spain, until the 20th.
The AD/PD™ conference is one of the most prestigious conferences in the fields of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Last year, 1,278 abstracts were submitted from 55 countries, gathering a diverse group of researchers to present their findings. This year, the theme is 'Advances in Research and Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases Related to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases.'
VT Bio explained that, in collaboration with the developer, Professor Hyunsoo Bae’s team at Kyung Hee University, they will disclose research results on the effects of beta-amyloid-specific regulatory T cell infusion on microglia in dementia animal models and symptom improvement. VT Bio’s VT301 proposes a therapeutic mechanism that administers regulatory T cells to induce hyperactive microglia back to a normal state as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease.
VT Bio is currently conducting a Phase 1 clinical trial of VT301 at Seoul National University Hospital. Related materials will be submitted to the FDA in the United States within the first half of this year to conduct clinical trials. They expect positive effects in drug development as excellent results have been obtained in studies on cell freezing conditions and changes in administration routes.
