Daejeon City Supports Social Enterprises' Labor Costs... Creating Jobs for Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 15th that it will finalize the participating companies and supported personnel for the first half of this year’s '(Preliminary) Social Enterprise Job Creation Project' and begin full-scale implementation.
The project aims to increase employment for vulnerable groups and expand social services through financial support for social enterprises, thereby realizing social value.
A total of 47 companies were selected through a public contest. The city plans to support part of the labor costs and four major insurance premiums for 206 employees hired by these companies through the project.
However, support will be applied differently depending on the type of enterprise.
For example, if a preliminary social enterprise hires a general worker, 50% of the cost will be supported, with an additional 20% added when hiring vulnerable groups.
Also, if a certified social enterprise hires a general worker, 40% will be supported, with an additional 20% added when hiring vulnerable groups, and an extra 20% added when maintaining employment.
The support period is set at up to 2 years for preliminary social enterprises and 3 years for certified social enterprises, with annual reassessments to decide on continued support, according to the city’s policy.
The city plans to sign business agreements between participating companies and autonomous districts by the 18th of this month and provide support as quickly as possible to avoid any disruption to corporate activities.
Furthermore, a similar scale of the (Preliminary) Social Enterprise Job Creation Project is planned to be announced for the second half of the year (scheduled for July).
