[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Min-jae] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 13th that it is recruiting participants for the ‘SME Smart Service Support Project,’ which supports the establishment of advanced information and communication technology (ICT)-based solutions to innovate the service sector of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Smart Service Support Project was established in 2020 to support SMEs in enhancing productivity in the service sector and creating new customers and markets through high value-added products by utilizing advanced ICT such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI).
This year, the Ministry will select and support a total of 165 companies, including 150 new companies (up to 60 million KRW) and 15 advanced companies (up to 100 million KRW). The advanced project was newly established this year and provides additional support of up to 100 million KRW to outstanding companies that have built smart service solutions from 2020 to last year.
Previously, the Ministry supported a total of 295 companies in building solutions for business innovation such as transitioning to non-face-to-face and online methods, solving public problems, automating tasks, and improving logistics and customer management efficiency.

Companies wishing to participate in the project can form a consortium with solution providers and apply through the ‘SME Smart Service Support Project Management System’ by the 13th of next month. The Ministry will also provide information and real-time consultations for demand companies facing difficulties in participating due to lack of information about supply companies.
