Seoul's New COVID-19 Cases Reach First 80,000 Level... 24,000 Increase in One Day

According to Seoul City on the 12th, the number of new confirmed cases in Seoul on the 11th was counted at 80,437. This is 23,835 more than the previous day (the 10th) with 56,602 cases, and about 1.5 times higher compared to a week ago (the 4th) with 53,193 cases.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul first exceeded 10,000 on the 8th of last month, then rose to the 20,000 range on the 17th, 40,000 range on the 22nd, 50,000 range on the 3rd of this month, and surged to 74,222 on the 8th, doubling approximately every week over the past month. Although the numbers slightly slowed to the 50,000 to 60,000 range on the 9th and 10th, they sharply increased to over 80,000 on the 11th.
As of midnight on the 12th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul stands at 1,411,694, with 1,034,516 patients currently in isolation, including those receiving home treatment or hospitalized. This means that about 1 in 9 Seoul citizens (based on a population of 9.6 million) is isolated at home or in a hospital. The number of patients under home treatment increased by 23,263 from the previous day to 262,874.
