View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Wooseok] Former People Power Party spokesperson Kim Byung-min expressed that he was "deeply moved" by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's victory, saying, "When the final 'leading' candidate appeared, I almost burst into tears."
In an interview on the CBS radio program 'Hanpan Seungbu' on the 11th, former spokesperson Kim said about the 20th presidential election, "Unlike the exit polls from the three major terrestrial broadcasters, JTBC's exit poll showed somewhat unfavorable results, so I couldn't let my guard down until the very last moment," adding, "After midnight, as the overall vote counting progressed, the trends changed."
Regarding the appointment of Assemblyman Jang Je-won as the chief secretary to the president-elect, he said, "Before forming the transition committee, quickly organizing the president-elect's secretariat should be a priority so that subsequent steps can proceed sequentially," and added, "Since Assemblyman Jang Je-won served as the situation room chief when the People's Camp was first launched and played a crucial role leading up to the current situation, I expect he will take on an important role."
He also commented on the appointment of Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People Party, as the head of the transition committee, saying, "The president-elect mentioned during the candidacy period that after unifying with candidate Ahn Cheol-soo, they would work together from the transition committee stage to govern the country," and added, "Regardless of the role, Ahn Cheol-soo's natural participation will be something the public can see."
Regarding the stark division in voting preferences between men and women in this 20th presidential election, he said, "It seems to confirm the tendencies that came out through exit polls," and added, "I believe it is time to move beyond a period of conflict to a time of healing and recovery, so there should be more time to wisely resolve these issues."
