[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Il-kwon] The voter turnout for the 20th presidential election was recorded at 2.1% as of 7 a.m. on the 9th.
According to the National Election Commission, voting began at 6 a.m. at 14,464 polling stations nationwide, and within one hour, 942,061 out of 44,197,692 registered voters had cast their ballots. This is 0.4 percentage points lower than the 2.5% turnout at the same time during the 19th presidential election in 2017.
However, the early voting turnout of 36.93%, conducted on the 4th and 5th, was not included. The early voting turnout will be added starting from the turnout rate announced at 1 p.m.

The region with the highest turnout was Daegu at 2.6%, while the lowest was Jeonnam at 1.4%. The turnout rates published on the National Election Commission’s website every hour on the hour are based on data collected nationwide 10 minutes prior.
