"Improving Poor Conditions" ... Busan Office of Education Enhances Rest Areas for School Janitorial Staff
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Air conditioning and heating units will be installed in the break rooms for school janitors in the Busan area.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is promoting the "Break Room Improvement Project" this year to improve the working environment of janitors working at schools.
Janitors are a job category that was converted from outsourced workers in 2018 to direct employment under the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, responsible for cleaning common areas in schools.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will invest 500 million KRW in budget to support 100 schools that wish to participate, providing 5 million KRW per school.
In April, the project will survey schools interested in participating, and in May, schools will carry out their own improvement projects, aiming to complete the break room improvements by July.
The project will equip janitors' break rooms with air conditioning and heating units, chairs, cabinets, and other supplies. Interior construction will also be conducted to create a safe and comfortable working environment.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has continuously strived to establish break rooms for janitors.
