Songpa-gu Expands Support for 'Unemployed Youth Employment Incentive'... 500,000 Won per Person
For Unemployed Residents Aged 19-34 in Songpa-gu Within 2 Years of Graduation... Criteria Relaxed and Eligibility Expanded Compared to Last Year... Applications Accepted from March 14 to May 13
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will support the "Unemployed Youth Employment Incentive" for young people struggling with job hunting due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, with applications starting from the 14th of this month.
Despite this being the most active period for job searching, the district supported a total of 2,496 young people last year by providing 500,000 KRW per person as the "Unemployed Youth Employment Incentive," helping to promote employment and stabilize their livelihoods.
With ongoing employment instability caused by COVID-19, the district has relaxed the eligibility criteria and expanded the target group this year to once again provide the "Unemployed Youth Employment Incentive."
The eligibility criteria are young people aged 19 to 34 as of the announcement date (March 4, 2022), residing in Songpa-gu according to their resident registration, who graduated within the last two years (graduates from February 2020 to February 2022), and are unemployed without employment insurance coverage. However, those enrolled in employment insurance but working 26 hours or less per week or in short-term employment of three months or less are also eligible to apply.
Unlike last year, ▲those who moved their address within Seoul's autonomous districts during the application period can apply at their new address ▲and applicants who are beneficiaries of other programs such as the Seoul Youth Allowance or the National Employment Support System are also eligible due to relaxed support criteria. Additionally, ▲those who received the employment incentive in 2021 and remain unemployed can reapply. However, university (graduate) students, students on leave, unemployment benefit recipients, those currently serving in the military, and those registered as business owners are excluded.
Required application documents include scanned copies of ▲resident registration certificate or abstract (for age and address) ▲employment insurance qualification history (to verify unemployment status) ▲final academic graduation certificate (including dropout, expulsion, or completion) within two years of graduation ▲employment contract (for short-term workers) ▲military service certificate (except for those currently serving in the military).
Applications can be submitted online via the Seoul Youth Portal from March 14 to May 13. After eligibility screening, selected applicants will receive 500,000 KRW each in Songpa Love Gift Certificates (mobile Zero Pay) sequentially starting in April.
