Busan City announced on the 6th that starting with the Union of Neighborhood Leaders on the 10th, it will hold briefings on city administration issues with various citizens, including the Mayor's Association, local business community, volunteer organizations, veterans' groups, national movement organizations, and the fisheries industry.
The city, recognizing that face-to-face communication with the local community has not been smooth due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, has designated this year as the first year of recovery to normal life and will hold a series of face-to-face briefing sessions to communicate about city administration issues.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun will personally attend the briefings to share the direction of city administration with citizens sufficiently.
He will also provide information on the city’s top priority tasks, such as hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo and establishing a Busan-style quarantine system.
At the first briefing on March 10, shortly after the presidential election, about 30 members of the Union of Neighborhood Leaders will be invited to commend their efforts in responding to COVID-19. Ahead of the local elections in June, they will also be urged to maintain election neutrality for a fair election.
More than 4,600 neighborhood leaders in Busan visited every household during the nationwide mask shortage crisis in 2020 to directly deliver masks and other quarantine supplies to vulnerable groups. They are also praised for their significant role in promoting COVID-19 vaccination among the elderly last year.
