On, Battery Contract Department Operation... Tuition Support for Master's Program for 2 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SK IE Technology (IET), which produces separators, one of the four major battery materials, announced its plan to expand new businesses, while SK On, a finished product manufacturing company, revealed its talent acquisition plans. SK Group is completing battery vertical integration while preparing for future growth engines.
According to SK Innovation on the 6th, SKIET announced on the 2nd that it plans to generate profits from its polyimide (PI) film business, a core material for foldable phones, starting in 2025. It also mentioned that it is considering expanding its all-solid-state battery business.
No Jaeseok, President of SKIET, said in an interview with SK Innovation’s official news channel, SKinno News, "We will expand our business areas through related businesses centered on battery and display materials, such as the FCW business, a core material for foldable phones, to establish the company’s growth structure early. By 2025, new businesses like FCW will contribute more significantly to enhancing the company’s corporate value." He added, "We are also keeping the all-solid-state battery market in mind."

Sungkyunkwan University will recruit master’s researchers to participate in the battery contract department program for two years starting at the end of this month. SK On will provide tuition support to the enrolled researchers. Affiliated researchers will deliver various trends and technologies through special lectures. Ji Dongseop, CEO of SK On, said, "With a systematic plan and a good program, we will nurture the leaders who will lead the future battery industry and do our best to ensure that Korea continues to lead the global battery market."
