Late Roh Tae-woo's Daughter No So-young "Ukrainian People Who Chose Comedian"... Apology After Controversy
"Sorry for the Poor Writing" Apology
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] No So-young, director of Art Center Nabi and eldest daughter of the late former President Roh Tae-woo, apologized after a post she wrote last month about Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, sparked belittling controversy belatedly.
Earlier, on the 27th of last month, Director No began her Facebook post regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine with "It is no comedy."
She continued, "The video of the Ukrainian president defending the capital does not seem very reliable. His public announcement with a frightened face is only pitiful. I would rather trust the former president holding a rifle."
She added, "I can understand the hearts of the Ukrainian people who elected a comedian as president. They must have been so desperate that they ordered him to at least make them laugh. However, what they overlooked is the ruthless international politics. If you do not have the ability to protect yourself, you can become the meal of a stronger guy at any time."
Director No left a message that seemed to disparage the Ukrainian government and people, saying, "It is never a comedy that a country caught between great powers loses its mind and has to pay the price with its life."
Additionally, she mentioned the upcoming 20th presidential election in Korea on the 9th, saying, "The presidential election that will be responsible for our survival for the next five years is approaching," and "Above all, I want to elect someone who understands and knows how to utilize our geopolitical situation well. It is unfortunate that this aspect is not well reflected even in the presidential debates."
Afterward, netizens who saw the post expressed discomfort at the parts that seemed to belittle President Zelensky's comedian background and the people who support him.
