Hankook Tire Extends Exclusive Supply for Women's Racing Series 'W Series'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) announced on the 3rd that it will continue to be the exclusive tire supplier for the women's racing competition 'W Series' held across Europe, North and South America, and Asia this year as well.
Launched in its first season in 2019, the 'W Series' is a competition designed to expand training and participation opportunities for female drivers in motorsports and to allow them to gain experience in a professional environment. Following the 2021 season, this year it is again scheduled to be held as a support race for Formula 1 (F1), sharing some of the races hosted by Formula 1 with the W Series.
Except for 2020, when the event was not held due to COVID-19, Hankook Tire has served as the official partner for three consecutive seasons, exclusively supplying ultra-high-performance racing tires. All vehicles participating in the 'W Series' are equipped with the Ventus F200, a dry surface racing slick tire with excellent grip, handling performance, and durability, and the Ventus Z217, a wet surface racing tire with high stability.
The 2022 season of the 'W Series' will begin with the opening race on May 6 (local time) in Miami, USA, followed by races in the United Kingdom, France, Hungary, Japan, Austin in the USA, and will conclude with the final race in Mexico on October 30. Among the eight regions where the competition is held, five have been selected as new circuits for the Formula series.
