View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] From this year, the application process for support for purchasing school uniforms for middle and high school students in Gyeongsangnam-do is expected to become more convenient.
Gyeongnam Province announced that it will operate an online application system linked with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Public My Data for easier application.
Previously, applicants had to visit schools or eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare centers in person to submit supporting documents and application forms, but now they can apply online using computers or smartphones without submitting resident registration certificates or extracts.
Applications can be made on the Gyeongsangnam-do website’s ‘Gyeongnam Baro Service,’ where applicants can also check the application and payment results.
The province stated that the processing period has been shortened, allowing support payments to be made faster than last year, starting from April.
Gyeongnam Province and 18 cities and counties have expanded the program since it was first implemented in 2020 for new middle school freshmen to ensure equal education and reduce the economic burden on parents, extending the target to high school students and others.
From this year, support has been added for first-grade students transferring or enrolling from abroad to schools within the province, which is expected to increase parental satisfaction.
The support targets approximately 63,000 students, including first-grade new students of middle and high schools and alternative education institutions within Gyeongsangnam-do with addresses in the province, as well as first-grade students transferring or enrolling from other cities or provinces to schools within the province.
Each student will receive 300,000 KRW in cash. Middle school students can apply from March 14 to 20, and high school students from March 21 to 27. Afterward, all students can apply at any time.
