Renault Samsung Motors Sells Total of 11,513 Units in February... 56.8% Increase YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 2nd that it achieved a total sales performance of 11,513 units, a 56.8% increase compared to the same period last year, with 3,718 units sold domestically and 7,795 units exported in February.
The mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) QM6 led domestic sales in February, selling 2,142 units, a 1% increase compared to the same period last year. This marks two consecutive months of year-over-year growth following January. By engine type, the LPe, which boasts smart total maintenance costs in the era of high oil prices, sold 1,254 units, accounting for 58.5% of total QM6 sales. The gasoline model followed with 884 units sold.
The coupe-style SUV 'XM3,' the best choice between a sedan and an SUV, sold 1,062 units in February, ranking second in sales after the QM6. By engine type, the economical 1.6 GTe sold 673 units, and the turbo engine TCe 260, jointly developed with Mercedes-Benz, sold 389 units. Following these distinct engine options, a hybrid engine model is scheduled for release in the second half of this year, which is expected to further boost the popularity of the XM3.
The mid-size sedan SM6 returned to a sales increase compared to the previous month despite parts supply issues. In February alone, 283 units were sold, a 55.5% increase year-over-year and a 128.2% increase month-over-month. Renault Samsung Motors is making every effort to normalize parts supply to minimize inconvenience for nearly 640 customers waiting for SM6 deliveries as of the end of February.
Renault brand models recorded total sales of 231 units, including 73 units of the Master, 127 units of the Zoe, and 31 units of the Twizy. Zoe and Twizy have the advantage of receiving 100% electric vehicle subsidies without any delivery wait time.
Renault Samsung Motors' exports in February totaled 7,795 units, including 6,783 units of the XM3 (export name Renault New Arkana), 1,945 units of the QM6 (export name Renault Koleos), and 67 units of the Twizy, marking a 126.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

In particular, the XM3 is highly popular overseas for its hybrid model. The hybrid model accounts for more than half of total XM3 exports at 54.7% (3,710 units), recognized for its spaciousness uncommon for a compact model, reasonable price, and efficiency.
