Gyeongnam Records Highest Ever 13,201 COVID-19 Cases... 4 Deaths Reported
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Gyeongnam has surpassed 10,000.
According to Gyeongsangnam-do on the 2nd, as of midnight that day, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases was 13,201, bringing the cumulative total to 161,837. Except for 5 cases from overseas arrivals, all are local infections.
This far exceeded the previous record of 9,247 cases on the 26th, the highest since the outbreak of COVID-19.
By region, Changwon exceeded 4,000 with 4,131 cases, followed by Gimhae with 1,961, Yangsan with 1,947, and Jinju with 1,642, making four cities with over 1,000 cases each.
Other regions reported: Geoje 950, Tongyeong 587, Sacheon 352, Miryang 316, Geochang 235, Haman 227, Goseong 184, Changnyeong 174, Hapcheon 137, Hadong 120, Hamyang 86, Namhae 56, Uiryeong 49, and Sancheong 47.
Deaths were also reported. The health authorities stated that four patients aged 60 to 80 with underlying conditions passed away.
Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases in the province increased to 161,837 (822 hospitalized, 65,576 under home treatment, 95,286 discharged, 153 deceased).
