Seoul Social Service Institute, Biannual Regular 'Eye Health Checkup' for Infants and Toddlers at Daycare Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Social Service Institute (Saseowon) announced on the 2nd that it will conduct regular eye health checkups twice a year for infants and toddlers at its affiliated daycare centers.
Saseowon, which operates seven daycare centers (Dundun Daycare Centers) under consignment, has signed a volunteer agreement with ophthalmology specialists and will conduct eye health checkups for infants and toddlers on the third Wednesday of every month starting from March, when the new semester begins. This initiative aims to detect and prevent eye diseases such as strabismus, amblyopia, and refractive errors at an early stage.
For children under the age of one, strabismus tests are conducted to check the alignment of both eyes. For children under the age of three, examinations for eye abnormalities such as astigmatism and amblyopia are necessary, and preschool children require preliminary tests for refractive errors.
