"Complete Business System Cloud Transition" Hanjin Completes Logistics Industry's First Attempt in One and a Half Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hanjin Co., Ltd. announced on the 2nd that it has become the first company in the logistics industry to transition all its business divisions' information technology (IT) operating systems to Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
Starting in 2020, the company completed the parcel delivery system transition in August last year, the logistics system in October last year, and the global business system in January this year, finishing the entire transition over a period of 1 year and 5 months. The company stated, "This will enable us to handle the rapidly increasing parcel volumes and the fast-changing logistics business more quickly and flexibly, while operating the system stably to enhance reliability and convenience."
The company expects to integrate digital fields such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data to analyze indicators related to changes in the logistics environment in real time. It also anticipates strengthened information security for both customers and internal operations. Furthermore, it plans to sequentially build cloud-native systems to maximize performance in the cloud environment. The parcel delivery system will be completed by the year after next, and the logistics and global business systems will be established by 2025.

The company believes it will be able to respond flexibly and quickly to customer demands and changes in the business environment. Including the construction of the cloud-native parcel delivery system this year, the company plans to invest 20 billion KRW in IT system development.
