Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Public-Private Joint Inspections' at 28 Construction Sites Including Byeollae Line
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint public-private quality management inspection targeting 28 construction sites within the province, including the Byeollae Line, until the end of this year.
The inspection targets are construction projects ordered by the province, specifically those subject to quality management plan establishment under the Construction Technology Promotion Act: construction projects with a total cost of 50 billion KRW or more or buildings with a total floor area of 30,000㎡ or more, and those subject to quality testing plan establishment: construction projects with a total cost of 500 million KRW or more or buildings with a total floor area of 660㎡ or more.
Specifically, the inspection targets include ▲14 road projects such as the Galcheon~Gasu road expansion project ▲1 architectural project such as the Eco Farm Land development project ▲5 subway projects including the Byeollae Line (Amsa~Byeollae) double-track railway section 3 ▲8 river projects such as the Bangnimcheon flood-prone area improvement project. The province will begin site inspections this month with the Bulhyeon~Sinjang road widening project and continue through December with the Wabu~Hwado local road construction project.
For this inspection, the province has organized a joint public-private inspection team consisting of external experts and responsible public officials.
The experts will focus on on-site inspections such as the appropriateness of construction status and preventive measures against electric shock accidents for on-site workers. The public officials will conduct document inspections on 26 items including designation and management of key quality control targets for construction projects subject to quality management plan establishment, and 7 items including whether quality tests and inspections are conducted at appropriate frequencies for projects subject to quality testing plan establishment.

Han Dae-hee, head of the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters, explained, "This joint public-private inspection, which includes quality management consulting support from external experts, is expected to secure good quality at construction sites within the province," adding, "It will also greatly contribute to preventing various safety accidents among on-site workers."
