Geoje-si Selected as Pilot City for Fishing Village Revitalization, Receives 7 Billion KRW Support Over 4 Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jucheol In] Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, has been finally selected as a pilot site for the Fisheries Village Vitalization Support Project newly promoted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries this year, and will receive up to 7 billion KRW in project funds over four years.
The Fisheries Village Vitalization Support Project aims to prevent the decline of the fishing village population by improving living services such as health, elderly and child care, education, and culture, thereby converting visiting-related populations into resident populations who settle and live in the region.
In the first year of the project, a project plan for the fishing village living area suitable for local conditions will be established through a status survey including the discovery of local resources and investigation of local social issues and residents' service needs, and the project budget will be finalized.
Subsequently, a fishing village station capable of delivering living services will be created, and various social innovation experiments to attract related populations, such as local living experiences and startup laboratories, will be promoted as on-site completion types.
