Ministry of Employment raids Yojin Construction and Hyundai Elevator... Investigation under Serious Accident Punishment Act
The Ministry of Employment and Labor has launched a forced investigation against Yojin Construction Industry, the contractor, regarding the elevator fall fatality that occurred on the 8th at a new building construction site in Pangyo, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 28th, the Gyeonggi branch of the ministry is conducting a search and seizure at four locations: Yojin Construction Industry's Seoul branch, the site office, Hyundai Elevator's Seoul office, and the Gangseo branch.
Earlier, two workers installing an elevator at the new construction site of Seongnam Pangyo 2nd Technovalley office research facility fell from the 12th floor above ground to the 5th basement floor and died on the spot.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor stated, "We plan to thoroughly verify whether safety measures under the Industrial Safety and Health Act were neglected in preparation for the fall risk of elevator installation workers, as well as whether the management's 'duty to ensure safety and health' under the Serious Accident Punishment Act was fulfilled."
