Nation's Only Tertiary Hospital Offering Remote Medical Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] Life Semantics announced on the 28th that the number of hospitals and clinics partnered with its non-face-to-face medical platform 'Dr. Call' has surpassed 200.
As of this date, the medical institutions that have adopted Dr. Call total 201, including 189 hospitals and clinics for domestic patients and 12 for overseas Koreans, representing more than a 20-fold increase compared to the same period last year. By region, Seoul has the most with 57 locations, followed by Gyeonggi with 40, Daejeon with 26, and Incheon, Busan, and Chungnam each with more than 10. Contracts with overseas Koreans are mainly made with tertiary general hospitals.
Dr. Call has signed contracts with the largest number of hospitals and clinics among domestic non-face-to-face medical platforms and is the only app that allows patients to receive treatment at tertiary hospitals. It provides a one-stop non-face-to-face medical service from telephone and video consultations to prescription issuance and medication delivery. Through monitoring functions that allow real-time checking of patients' health conditions such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and body temperature, patients can receive fast and accurate treatment from professional medical staff. For COVID-19 confirmed patients and those in self-quarantine, respiratory disease treatment and medication delivery services are also available according to the patient's condition.
The distribution of medical departments on the Dr. Call platform was as follows: Korean Medicine (19%), Internal Medicine (18%), Otorhinolaryngology (11%), Family Medicine (10%), and Pediatrics and Adolescents (9%). The most frequently visited departments by patients were Pediatrics and Adolescents, Dermatology, and Family Medicine.
Dr. Call first launched services for overseas Koreans in June 2020 and expanded its user base to domestic patients last year. Recently, with the rapid increase in COVID-19 confirmed cases and the implementation of 'self home treatment,' the number of partnered hospitals and clinics is also rapidly increasing.
