At the rally held on the 27th near the Russian Embassy in Jung-gu, Seoul, Olana Shegel, a professor of Ukrainian language at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and a representative speaker, said, "Since the Nazi Germany attack in 1941, the most horrific event is happening in Kyiv," and criticized, "If we do not properly respond to Russia's atrocities, Russia will become even more audacious and put all democratic countries in serious danger."
She continued, "Just as the Korean people shed blood to protect democracy during the Korean War, the Ukrainian people are now engaged in a desperate struggle for democracy and freedom," adding, "Putin's Russia aims to revive the Soviet Union that caused the division of the Korean Peninsula."
Professor Shegel also said, "Ukraine, like the Republic of Korea, has defended its sovereignty by overcoming numerous invasions from surrounding powers," and "I ask that the Republic of Korea, which has become an advanced country today, strengthen economic sanctions to help stop Russia, which dreams of the revival of imperialism, and I also appeal to the Korean government and presidential candidates."
