Ukraine Official: "Russian Forces Seize Control of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Reports have emerged that Russian forces have taken control of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in northern Ukraine.
The Guardian daily reported on the 24th (local time), citing Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the President of Ukraine.
Advisor Podolyak expressed concern, saying, "Due to the senseless attacks by the Russians, we can no longer say that the Chernobyl nuclear plant is safe," adding, "This is one of the most serious threats facing Europe today."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed that the Chernobyl nuclear plant is under Russian military control.

Earlier, President Zelensky had posted on his Twitter, "Russian occupying forces are attempting to seize Chernobyl," and "Our troops are risking their lives to prevent a repeat of the tragedy of 1986."
