View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station (Chief Kim Hee-chul) announced on the 24th that a fire broke out in a building in Gwangju early in the morning, but the fire was successfully extinguished without any casualties.
The fire, which occurred at around 1:37 a.m. at a commercial and multi-family residential building in Munheung-dong, Buk-gu, is estimated to have started at the lower part of the outdoor stair landing on the first floor of the three-story building. A total of 55 personnel and 19 vehicles, including firefighters, were dispatched and completely extinguished the fire by 1:54 a.m., 17 minutes later.
As a result of the fire, out of the nine residents, three evacuated on their own, and six were rescued by the 119 rescue team. There were no casualties, but property damage of approximately 18 million won occurred.

Jang Jong-gwan, the on-site commander in charge of the fire scene, said, "Since the fire occurred during the vulnerable late-night hours in a building housing multiple households, we focused on rescuing lives," adding, "We will do our best to protect the safety and property of citizens."
