Gwangju Police Conduct Special Crackdown on Industrial Technology Leakage for 253 Days
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Police Agency will conduct a special crackdown until October 31 to prevent the leakage of key domestic industrial technologies and personnel overseas.
This crackdown will not only target cases of overseas technology leakage but will also expand to cover all industrial technology leakage cases regardless of domestic or international origin.
Last year, the police arrested eight suspects for violations of the Industrial Technology Protection Act and the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.
Since the leakage of key industrial technologies from companies shakes the foundation of the national economy and is directly linked to national security protection, the Gwangju Police Agency’s Security Investigation Division and Industrial Technology Protection Investigation Team will respond with full force.
A police official stated, “This special crackdown will be carried out in close cooperation with the Industrial Security Council, local companies, and associations to fundamentally block the leakage of technologies from local small and medium-sized enterprises and startups.”
