Ministry of Science and ICT Appoints Heo Seong-wook, Director of Network Policy Office, as NIPA President

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 22nd that it has appointed Heo Seong-wook, Director of the Network Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, as the new President of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
Heo Seong-wook, the newly appointed President, has held key positions in the former Ministry of Information and Communication, Korea Communications Commission, and Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. He has also served as Senior Administrative Officer at the Science and Technology Advisory Office of the Presidential Secretariat, Innovation Growth Policy Officer and Policy Coordination Planning Officer at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Information Security and Network Policy Officer, Information and Communication Policy Officer, and Director of the Network Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT.
With over 30 years of accumulated expertise and leadership in the information and communication sector, President Heo is expected to successfully lead the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and develop it into a specialized institution for ICT industry innovation.

The new President of NIPA was selected through the screening and recommendation process of the Executive Recommendation Committee in accordance with Article 26 (Appointment and Dismissal of Executives of Quasi-Governmental Institutions) of the Act on the Management of Public Institutions and related regulations. The term of office is three years from the date of appointment.
