Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Provides Additional 20,000 Won Support for Early Childhood Education Fees

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 21st, the childcare fee support to reduce the financial burden on parents will be increased by 20,000 KRW compared to the previous year, providing 150,000 KRW per month for public kindergartens and 350,000 KRW for private kindergartens per child. In addition, childcare fees for low-income families will be paid up to 150,000 KRW per month to ensure equal educational opportunities for children regardless of income level.
In particular, 4.2 billion KRW was secured in the 2022 main budget, and the Office of Education plans to continue the additional support project for private kindergarten childcare fees with its own budget this year as well.
This year, private kindergarten students in Jeonnam will receive 400,000 KRW per month in educational expenses, reaching a 91% support rate for free education in private kindergartens compared to the standard childcare fee of 437,000 KRW last year.
Also, by expanding the target for free meal support in public and private kindergartens from children aged 4-5 to all children aged 3-5, free meals will be provided. The Office of Education has secured a budget of 8 billion KRW to provide safe and healthy meals free of charge to young children.
