Courier Union Occupies CJ Logistics Headquarters for Ten Days... "Yoon Seok-yeol Provokes Labor Conflict"
Rally Held in Front of the People Power Party Headquarters
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The National Delivery Workers' Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (Delivery Workers' Union) has set a deadline of the 21st for talks with CJ Logistics, and on Saturday the 19th, they continued to occupy the headquarters and held a large-scale rally in Yeouido.
On the afternoon of the same day, the Delivery Workers' Union held a "National Speech" in front of the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, condemning the People Power Party and presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol for making anti-union remarks. Approximately 250 people attended the event, according to police estimates. Jin Kyung-ho, the chairman of the Delivery Workers' Union who was expected to attend the rally, did not participate.
Yoo Sung-wook, head of the CJ Logistics branch of the Delivery Workers' Union, said, "Candidate Yoon is causing conflict between labor unions, promoting division, and pushing the delivery field into another pit of division." He added, "The People Power Party obstructed and delayed the enactment of the Living Logistics Service Act, which delivery workers sought to guarantee at least minimal legal status. Now they are talking about the law and labeling us as a violent group."
The Delivery Workers' Union continued its occupation of the CJ Logistics headquarters for the tenth consecutive day. About 100 people stationed at the headquarters urged the management to start talks again. At one point, a man in his 30s holding a Taegeukgi flag tried to enter the occupation site to demand an end to the strike but was stopped by the police.
