Fishing Angler Rescued After Falling at Jeju Hwasun Port Tetraport
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A man in his 40s who fell from the tetrapod at the east breakwater of Hwasun Port in Seogwipo City, Jeju, was rescued by the Seogwipo Coast Guard.
According to the Seogwipo Maritime Police Station on the 18th, a report was received at 4:09 PM the previous day from an angler near the east breakwater of Hwasun Port, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo City, stating that a person had fallen under the tetrapod.
Upon receiving the report, the Seogwipo Coast Guard arrived at the scene around 4:18 PM, checked the health condition of the fallen person, and then conducted a joint rescue operation with firefighters who arrived shortly after, safely rescuing Mr. A (male, in his 40s) at around 4:42 PM.
At the time of rescue, Mr. A was conscious but complained of head bleeding and pelvic pain, and was unable to move, so he was transported to a medical facility by a fire ambulance.
Mr. A slipped while moving on top of the tetrapod to fish and fell about 4-5 meters down; it is known that the fall site was not over the sea.
