View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] As the official election campaign begins, declarations of support for specific candidates are continuing in the cultural and artistic community. Actor Lee Wonjong, who declared support for Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, said, "(This candidate) overcame a difficult childhood in a healthy way," while singer Kim Heung-guk, who declared support for Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party presidential candidate, described him as "a confident candidate who dominates the stage," explaining their reasons for supporting each candidate.
In an interview with YTN Radio's 'Hwang Boseon's Start of a New Morning' on the 18th, Lee said about candidate Lee, "If someone lived in poverty, they might be greedy for money or chase wealth, but he strangely overcame it healthily," adding, "It is hard to find such a person around. As a public official, he seems to have overcome it well."
He continued, "The choice of president is very important," and said, "In terms of ability and experience to entrust our future, I think he can make a good choice with cold knowledge and reason. I think (candidate Lee) is a future-oriented candidate."
When asked to name a character he had played who resembled candidate Lee, Lee replied, "When I did the drama 'Daewang Sejong,' I played the role of Yoonhoe, who was a very loyal character." He added, "I don't know if I will have the opportunity to campaign for (candidate Lee), but if given the chance, I am willing to go out."

He praised Yoon's 'uppercut ceremony' shown at campaign events, saying, "Wasn't that what Coach Hiddink did during the 2002 World Cup? It seems he is confident." He continued, "He talks more, and he dominates the stage, and now it seems like things are going his way, according to his own will and thoughts, and he feels that too."
When asked about the question, "There are more people in the cultural and artistic community declaring support for candidate Lee than for candidate Yoon," Kim said, "The progressive side has similar tendencies and has been united for a long time, but our conservative side is timid," adding, "there are more of us, but the list appears smaller. It requires courage and guts, but despite worries, there are many of us on our side."
