Jeonju City Council Member Yang Young-hwan: "Must Build Together with Pyeonghwa 1-dong Resident Center and Nambu Youth Center"

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Yang Young-hwan, a member of the Jeonju City Council (Dongseohak, Seoseohak, Pyeonghwa 1·2-dong), proposed building a new Pyeonghwa 1-dong Community Center, which is old and cramped, on the land donated by Wansan Girls' Commercial High School.

On the 17th, during a 5-minute free speech at the 388th extraordinary session, Councilor Yang stated, "The Pyeonghwa 1-dong Community Center, completed 26 years ago, has long lost its role as a regional hub facility due to several factors such as a structure that makes parking difficult not only for the mobility-impaired but also for non-disabled people, and increased traffic volume on nearby roads." He pointed out, "Due to these issues, I previously suggested swapping the locations of the community center and the Southern Youth Center, which is planned to be newly built on the Wansan Girls' Commercial High School donated land, but since the youth center site has been confirmed as the Wansan Girls' Commercial High School donation site, the community center reconstruction issue has become uncertain."

He continued, "This issue can be resolved by jointly constructing the community center and the Southern Youth Center on the Wansan Girls' Commercial High School donated land."

According to Councilor Yang, the Southern Youth Center site is classified as a Type 2 General Residential Area, allowing a building coverage ratio of 60% and a floor area ratio of 230%. Additionally, the allowable total floor area for construction on the site is 6,927㎡, so if approximately 3 billion KRW in construction costs can be secured, both facilities can be built together.

Councilor Yang urged the Jeonju City government for a rational decision, saying, "Funding can be secured by selling the current community center, and integrated construction of the two buildings is expected to reduce the budget and have a positive synergistic effect on building operation and management."
