Disney Strengthens Focus on Metaverse, Appoints Executive in Charge
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Disney has appointed Mike White as Senior Vice President to oversee its metaverse strategy, CNBC reported on the 15th (local time).
According to the report, Bob Chapek, Disney's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), announced to employees that he appointed Vice President White to lead the "next generation of storytelling" and oversee the metaverse strategy. White previously worked at Yahoo and joined Disney in 2011, where he was responsible for consumer experience and platforms.
CEO Chapek did not disclose specific details about how Disney will develop its metaverse business or the amount of investment involved, but he described White's role as "connecting the real world and the digital world" in relation to Disney's entertainment business.
CEO Chapek said, "Today, we have the opportunity to connect these worlds, create an entirely new paradigm in customer experience, and interlock our stories."
