This project will provide scholarships necessary for talent development through a total sponsorship fund of 200 million KRW. Additionally, various programs that aid in nurturing gifted musicians will be supported.
The Lotte Cultural Foundation will award an annual scholarship of 8 million KRW per person to a total of 20 gifted musicians, including 15 recommended by the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation and 5 recommended by the Korea Arts Gifted Education Institute, following document screening and interviews.
Furthermore, the selected gifted musicians will be offered differentiated programs that help improve their skills and abilities, such as participation in master classes with in-house artists from Lotte Concert Hall and appearances in special programs. Support for attending performances will also be provided to promote emotional stability and capacity building among the children.
The classical music gifted support targets children aged 7 to 18 as of 2022 (with age varying by field for the Korea Arts Gifted Education Institute), who are beneficiaries under Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, children from the next-lowest income bracket as defined in Paragraph 10 of the same article, or children from general low-income families.
Kim Seon-kwang, CEO of the Lotte Cultural Foundation, stated, “We will continue various activities so that culture and arts become the dreams of more children and, furthermore, can deliver inspiration to our society through culture and arts.”
Lee Je-hoon, Chairman of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, said, “We once again thank the Lotte Cultural Foundation for practicing sharing so that children with talent but who must give up their dreams due to difficult circumstances can grow into outstanding talents of future society. The sponsorship funds will be used valuably for nurturing classical music talents.”
