[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Woo Sang-ho, the general election campaign headquarters chief of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, for his remarks on 'investigating deep-rooted evils,' saying, "We will protest and condemn until he apologizes." In response, Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, criticized, saying, "There is a limit to audacity."
On the same day, Lee shared an article containing Woo's remarks on his Facebook and directly questioned, "Why do they desperately ask the opposition presidential candidate to 'apologize' when they themselves have suddenly lost control and cannot manage the situation?"
He added, "Seeing the Blue House get 'extremely angry' and flare up over routine comments during the presidential election process, the public sentiment for regime judgment will only grow stronger."
Earlier, Woo said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' that "(If Yoon does) not apologize, even the moderate voters will all leave," and "Whether to apologize or not is up to Yoon's side, but the backlash from not apologizing will be greater for that camp (People Power Party)."
He continued, "Where else is there a presidential candidate who so blatantly says they will investigate the previous administration?" and "Since he declared that there were many problems with the Moon Jae-in government without even conducting an investigation, this is a very serious situation."

They must bear corresponding responsibility," and "Those who committed illegal acts and corruption during the Moon Jae-in administration must be punished accordingly according to the law and system."
In response, President Moon Jae-in strongly criticized Yoon's remarks and demanded an apology. At a staff meeting on the 10th, President Moon reportedly said, "Are you saying that when you were the head of the Central District Prosecutors' Office and Prosecutor General, you turned a blind eye to the deep-rooted evils of this government? Or are you trying to fabricate nonexistent deep-rooted evils through planned investigations? You must answer," and "I express strong anger at baselessly labeling this government as a target of deep-rooted evil investigations and illegal acts, and I demand an apology."
