Gyeongbok University Improves 'Student Transportation Convenience' with Subway Line 4 Extension Opening
[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kyungbok University is expected to see improved transportation convenience with the opening of the Namyangju extension of Subway Line 4 in March.
According to Seoul Metro and Namyangju City on the 9th, the Jinjeop Line, an extension of Seoul Subway Line 4 to Namyangju, will open on the 19th of next month. The Jinjeop Line extension of Subway Line 4 is a 14.9 km section connecting Danggogae Station, Namyangju Byeollae, Onam, and Jinjeop, with a total construction cost of 1.4 trillion won. After opening, 10-car trains will operate at intervals of 10 to 20 minutes on the Jinjeop Line.
The Jinjeop Line broke ground in December 2014, but the opening scheduled for 2020 was delayed due to an explosion accident at the construction site and disagreements over the installation areas for track management and maintenance facilities.
Subway Line 4 runs north-south through Seoul and currently operates from Oido Station to Danggogae Station. However, with the opening of the Jinjeop Line, service will be extended to Kyungbok University located in Jinjeop.
