View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 9th that it will strengthen communication to spread awareness of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and ventures.
On the same day, SBC held a seminar and roundtable meeting for companies in the next-generation display sector and ESG management innovation at the Chungcheong Training Institute in Cheonan, Chungnam. The seminar, tailored to Chungnam's region-specific industries, covered topics ranging from the concept of ESG, stakeholders' ESG management demands, ESG response plans and strategies for SMEs and ventures, to ESG issues related to the next-generation display industry.
At the subsequent roundtable meeting, Chairman Kim Hak-do and nine representatives of regional companies in the next-generation display field, including Song Seong-geun, CEO of FC Industry, participated. The participants shared difficulties in adopting ESG management and impressions of using the ESG self-diagnosis system, and discussed improvement measures for effective policy support. SBC introduced policy projects supporting ESG.
Before the roundtable meeting, Chairman Kim personally conducted an ESG self-diagnosis to check the status of the ESG self-diagnosis system, which SBC opened and has been operating since January. When SMEs autonomously conduct diagnosis through the non-face-to-face smart self-diagnosis system (K-doctor), a report including the ESG management level and improvement tasks by sector is automatically issued.
SBC plans to regularly hold seminars and roundtable meetings by region-specific industries to accelerate the spread of ESG management awareness among SMEs and ventures. It intends to actively reflect field opinions from companies when promoting related projects such as upgrading the ESG self-diagnosis checklist and focus on preparing demand-centered support measures.
