[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 8th that the Catholic University Incheon St. Mary's Hospital has been selected in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's public contest for the 'Regional Mental Emergency Medical Center Operation Project.'
The Regional Mental Emergency Medical Center provides simultaneous emergency medicine and psychiatric care when mental emergency patients with high risks of self-harm or harm to others visit, aiming to quickly ensure physical and emotional stability.
The city plans to add 280 million KRW of city funds to 280 million KRW of national funds and work closely with Incheon St. Mary's Hospital to prepare for the center's operation starting next month.
They will prepare two dedicated beds for mental emergency patients within the existing emergency medical center and hire five additional staff members, including specialized doctors, before starting full-scale operations.
