14 Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed Amid Group Infection Concerns in Correctional Facilities... Total 249 Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] On the 4th, additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed at Seoul Dongbu Detention Center and Incheon Detention Center, where cluster infections occurred.
According to the Ministry of Justice on that day, 10 inmates and 1 staff member at Dongbu Detention Center tested positive for COVID-19. Three more cases were confirmed at Incheon Detention Center as well. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 185 at Dongbu Detention Center, 64 at Incheon Detention Center, totaling 249.
The Ministry of Justice has implemented cohort isolation for the affected housing units and dispersed the remaining inmates.
Currently, most confirmed cases are asymptomatic or exhibit mild cold symptoms. When treatment is necessary, Pfizer's oral antiviral Paxlovid is administered according to a doctor's prescription.
