View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Convenience store 7-Eleven announced on the 4th that it has renewed its instant chicken brand from the existing 'Chicken Uijeongseok' to 'PRIDE' and is strengthening its competitiveness in instant cooked food, whose demand has been steadily increasing since COVID-19.
7-Eleven sells instant cooked food at about 4,000 stores nationwide. Sales have continued to grow in double digits every year. 7-Eleven's instant cooked food sales increased by 40.2% in 2020 and by 37.2% last year.
7-Eleven stated, "Our main instant chicken products use carefully selected fresh meat from Korea, and above all, we use clean and safe oil." They added, "The oil used in 7-Eleven's instant cooked food contains high-oleic soybean oil, which is characterized by a low saturated fat content." It is explained that due to its excellent oxidative stability, it can be used longer than regular soybean oil and fried dishes can be stored longer.
Additionally, a seasoning recipe using black pepper, habanero chili, and other ingredients is used to create a spicy aroma and taste suited to Korean preferences.
Leveraging this quality excellence, 7-Eleven's new instant chicken brand 'PRIDE' embodies customer values such as ▲Pleasure (customer enjoyment) ▲Recipe (differentiated seasoning) ▲Ingredient (safe raw materials) ▲Delicious (best taste) ▲Easy (simple and convenient).
To commemorate the launch of the 'PRIDE' brand, 7-Eleven has prepared customer events and sharing activities. During the Winter Olympics period (February 4?20), 7-Eleven will sell four products?'Whole Chicken,' 'Seasoned Dakgangjeong,' 'Buffalo Wing Set,' and 'Our Wheat Hot Dog'?at an average discount of 32%. Each product is limited to between 4,000 and 20,000 units, and the event will automatically end when quantities are sold out.
Customers who purchase instant cooked food during the event period will receive a free mini cola (190 ml). Prior to this, on the 28th of last month, 7-Eleven donated 1,000 spicy whole drumsticks to 'Bapper,' a free meal service for the homeless, ahead of the holidays.
